Takeda Castle Ruins

Takeda Castle Ruins

Japan

The Takeda Castle, constructed on the mountain at 353 meters of altitude, is one of one hundred famous castles in Japan. Its base was constructed in the 15th century. On autumn mornings when a thick mist hangs in the sky because of a sharp drop in overnight temperatures, the castle ruins appear to be floating among a sea of clouds. It is this phenomenon that gives the castle ruins its other name, Japan’s Machu Picchu.
